Engineering Career Information
The engineering profession and associated job opportunities are expected to stay strong because of accelerating technology, and the expectation that degrees in the field will not be increasing significantly before 2010.
Competitive pressures and advancing technology will force companies to improve and update product designs, and to optimize their manufacturing processes. Engineers will be relied upon to increase productivity, as investment in plant and equipment increase to expand output of goods and services. Additionally, engineering jobs will need to be filled to improve or build new roads, bridges, water and pollution control systems and other public facilities and infrastructure.
An engineering degree also opens doors to other careers. Many engineering graduates move into other professions, such as medicine, law and business, where an engineering background is a valuable asset. In short, it's a seller's market for engineers!
