Praxair to Be Sole Oxygen Supplier to 3 Wastewater Treatment Plants for 2008 Beijing Olympics

NEW YORK (AP) -- Praxair Inc. said Tuesday it will be the sole supplier of oxygen to three wastewater treatment plants for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing this year.

The industrial gases company has entered a contract with Beijing Drainage Group Co. for the oxygen. It did not disclose financial terms.

The plants are located in the Qinghe, Beixiaohe and Jiuxianqiao sections of Beijing. Beijing's municipal government built three wastewater re-use plants, in which wastewater is treated through filtration, carbon adsorption and other processes.

Praxair shares rose $4.27, or 5.5 percent, to $82.01 in afternoon trading.
