ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--US BioEnergy Corporation, a leading ethanol producer in the United States, announced today that US Bio Marion, its Marion, S.D. ethanol plant, began production in February. The company acquired the 110 million gallon per year (mmgy) ethanol plant while under construction in August 2007.
US Bio Marion, located north of Marion in southeastern South Dakota, has the capacity to produce approximately 110 million gallons of ethanol and 320,000 tons of distillers grains per year from about 40 million bushels of corn provided by local farmers and has created nearly 45 new jobs.
“We are excited to have our fifth plant operating and extend our congratulations to the Marion team,” Gordon Ommen, CEO of US BioEnergy, stated. “US Bio Marion provides domestically produced biofuel from locally grown corn, which not only reduces our country’s dependence on foreign oil, but also benefits the local economy.”
