Marathon Oil to Sell Only Ethanol-Blended Fuel at 16 Midwest Gas Stations
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) -- Marathon Oil Corp. said Wednesday that it will only sell fuels that have been blended with ethanol at 16 Midwest gas stations starting on May 1.
The oil company said the move ties into the Energy Act signed in December that dramatically increased requirements for renewable fuel use.
The law requires that 9 billion gallons of renewable fuels be used nationwide this year, up from 6 billion last year. The requirement increases to 36 billion gallons by 2022.
Unblended gasoline products will no longer be available at certain Marathon stations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
