Westlake Unit to Open PVC Plant for $30M

Westlake Chemical Unit to Open PVC Plant in Arizona for $30M; Expects to Open in 2009

HOUSTON (AP) -- Westlake Chemical Corp. said Wednesday its North American Pipe Corp. subsidiary will open a new PVC pipe plant in Yucca, Ariz. for an initial cost of $30 million.

The new plant is expected to be operational by the first quarter of next year. The company said the plant will employ about 75 people.

The facility will produce PVC pipe for the water, sewer, irrigation and related industrial and residential markets.

Shares of Westlake rose 36 cents, or 2.7 percent, to $13.94 in morning trading.
