Albemarle plans bromine joint venture in China with Sinobrom
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Albemarle Corp. plans to form a joint venture with China's Weigan Sinobrom Import and Export Co. to make bromines, the specialty chemicals company said Friday.
Albemarle, based in Richmond, Va., said its subsidiary Albemarle Holdings Ltd. will own 75 percent of the new company, which will be called Sinobrom Albemarle Bromine Chemicals Co. It will be based in Shandong, China.
Bromine is used in fire retardants and agricultural compounds.
