Arkema: No Major Damage At Three Texas Facilities
September 16, 2008

Each of Arkema's four Texas plants (Bayport, Beaumont, Crosby and Houston) was shut down in advance of Hurricane Ike and remains idle, Arkema announced Monday. Damage assessments are underway. At this time, it appears that Bayport, Crosby and Houston did not sustain significant damage. Beaumont experienced some significant flooding.

It is unclear when normal operations will resume. Delays in start-up due to off-site issues (transportation, waste disposal, etc.) may be possible. Every effort will be made to safely start up the plants as soon as reasonably practicable. Start-up information will be shared with customers, suppliers, and the communities as soon as more definitive information is known.

Throughout this event and during its aftermath, Arkema's principal concern has been and will continue to be the safety of our employees and neighbors. Thus far, there have been no reports of injuries to our employees, though some have suffered significant personal property losses. We continue to assess their needs and supply aid and comfort in any ways that we can.
