Chemtura, citing growth, to increase lubricant capacity at Ontario plant by 60 percent

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (AP) -- Chemtura Corp. a manufacturer of consumer and crop protection products, announced Monday it will increase capacity for high performance lubricants at a Canadian plant.

Chemtura, which also makes polymer additives including flame retardants, will increase calcium sulfonate grease capacity by 60 percent in Ontario.

Calcium sulfonate grease, which provides corrosion resistance and is designed for high load and high temperature applications, is used in heavy duty applications in the marine, steel, paper and food industry.

The higher volume is scheduled to take effect next fall.

"We are focused on meeting our customers' petroleum additives needs and gearing up for substantially more growth," said Sean O'Connor, vice president of Chemtura Petroleum Additives.

Shares of Chemtura traded at $4.66, down 18 cents.
