Converted Organics increases production at California facility

BOSTON (AP) -- Converted Organics Inc., a fertilizer company, said Tuesday it is installing new equipment in a Gonzales, Calif.-based manufacturing facility to boost capacity.

The plant, which processes food waste into fertilizer, will open by Friday, the company said.

"Increased production capacity is critical to Converted Organics' commitment to meet growing market demand for our organic fertilizer and soil amendment products," said President Edward J. Gildea.

Shares rose 33 cents, or 7.6 percent, to $4.66 in afternoon trading.
