Westlake Chemical Announces Start-Up of
Geismar VCM and PVC Operations

HOUSTON, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Westlake Chemical Corporation announced today that in late December 2004 it successfully started up its vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) facilities in Geismar, Louisiana. As previously announced this phased start-up will result in approximately 300 million pounds of PVC production per annum.
