Department of Defense awards Valero foreign military fuel contract

Valero Marketing & Supply Co. has been awarded a $118 million contract to supply aviation turbine fuel to foreign military customers.
The Defense Energy Support Center at Fort Belvoir, Va., is ordering the fuel on behalf of foreign customers through its Foreign Military Sales program. Neither the Department of Defense nor the company revealed which countries will be receiving the fuel.
Valero Marketing & Supply Co. is a wholly owned subsidiary of San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corp. The company will manufacture and ship the fuel from its Corpus Christi refinery. The contract is set to expire Oct. 31, 2010.
Valero is an oil refining and marketing company that owns and operates 16 refineries in North America.
