CDC Report Sheds New Light on Chemicals Present in Our Bodies
NEW YORK, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Our bodies are composed of chemicals. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) monitors the presence of synthetic chemicals in our bodies on a regular basis. But what does this information really mean for our health?
On, July 21st, 2005, the CDC will release its third National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, providing a snapshot of the U.S. population's exposure to certain naturally occurring and manmade substances. It is the most extensive assessment of environmental exposures and one of the world's foremost applications of a rapidly advancing field of research known as bio-monitoring.
What do these findings tell us? How do we know what chemicals and in what amounts actually pose a threat to our health? Should we be concerned?
Public health experts at the American Council on Science and Health (ACSH) will put this information in perspective and provide B-Roll footage of various sources of chemical exposures. In addition, ACSH's Dr. Elizabeth Whelan will be available for inquiries.
