UOP Announces Formation of New Strategic Business Unit

Adsorbents & Specialties joins with Catalysts and Advanced Materials To strengthen products portfolio and customer focus
 DES PLAINES, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 2005--UOP is forming a new strategic business unit, Catalysts, Adsorbents and Specialties (CA&S), to better serve its customers. Norm Gilsdorf, Sr.Vice President and General Manager of Catalysts and Advanced Materials, will head the new strategic business unit which was formed by combining the existing Catalysts and Advanced Materials business with the Adsorbents and Specialties business.
Under his direction, with the full resources supporting UOP's catalyst, molecular sieve adsorbent and alumina product lines, CA&S will leverage capabilities of development, manufacturing and services to serve the refining, petrochemical, gas processing and manufacturing industries.
This new business unit will include the company's six wholly owned manufacturing facilities and will also provide oversight and coordination with UOP's joint venture manufacturing facilities in Japan and China.
The enhanced product focus will position UOP to more effectively compete in its existing markets and to create a platform for growth into adjacent product areas.
