The World's Two Largest Polyethylene Lines Now Use Pavilion's Polymer Solution
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 2005--Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in advanced process control (APC) and environmental compliance solutions, today announced that Formosa Plastics Corporation (FPC), U.S.A. is expanding its use of Pavilion's polymer control solution to four additional polyethylene production lines. This expansion is based on the success of Formosa's first Pavilion project deployed in 2002 on two of its polyethylene lines. Formosa will leverage the new Pavilion8-based polymer control solution to increase production and enhance product quality to meet corporate goals. This brings the total number of Formosa Plastics production lines benefiting from Pavilion to six.
"As we drive to meet our growth targets for next year, we wanted a proven solution that could quickly deliver results across all of our production lines," said Walter Chen, vice president of Formosa Plastics' Polyolefins Division. "Advanced process control gives us more first-class production, quickly. And given the significant results we achieved with Pavilion, the expansion across all our polyethylene lines was a sensible business decision."
As part of the latest expansion, Formosa will implement Pavilion's polymer control solution on three Nisseki polyethylene lines with a complex fifteen reactor configuration and one Phillips Loop polyethylene line. Producing 280 KT annually, the Formosa Phillips Loop PE production line is the second largest in the world. The largest PE Phillips Loop line also uses Pavilion's polymer control solution. To date, Pavilion's polymer solutions have been deployed on 78 polymer lines and 105 reactors.
Formosa first turned to Pavilion Technologies in 2002 to achieve new levels of production efficiency after experiencing the challenges of increasingly higher operating costs, rising raw material costs and a constantly changing market demand. After deploying Pavilion's solution on two gas phase polyethylene lines, Formosa reported a 70 percent reduction of its wide-specification material and production increases of up to three percent.
"We're very pleased to be expanding our partnership with Formosa," said Ralph Carter, CEO, Pavilion Technologies. "Formosa's confidence in selecting us again for phase two of its strategic deployment is strong validation for both the strength of our polymer solution and the business benefits that our solutions continue to deliver time after time."
