ALPHARETTA, Ga., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C.'s manufacturing facility in Augusta, Ga., has been named an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) "Star" site by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The VPP program is the Labor Department's premier initiative to promote and recognize excellence in occupational health and safety. The "Star" designation, the highest award in the VPP program, recognizes worksites that have comprehensive, successful safety and health management programs and have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average of their respective industries.
"We had to undergo a very rigorous review that took almost two years to complete," said plant manager Kevin Keenly. "But it was worth the effort. The OSHA VPP Star flag that flies at our entrance certifies that every employee at this location is committed to excellence."
The verification process includes an application review and a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of OSHA safety and health experts. Sites that make the grade must submit annual self-evaluations and are subject to re-evaluation every three years in order to remain in the program.
