ST. LOUIS, Aug. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Solutia Inc. today announced that Eastman Chemical Company has selected Solutia's Therminol(r) 66 heat transfer fluid for use in its new, state-of-the-art IntegRex facility in Columbia, S.C. The facility is based on IntegRex technology, which enables integrated conversion of paraxylene (PX) to polyethelene terephthalate (PET) resin. The facility will rely upon Therminol 66 heat transfer fluid, recognized by customers for its excellent thermal stability and low vapor pressure, which Eastman also depends upon to heat various operating systems throughout the world.

Eastman is the world's leading supplier of PET resin for packaging. The company's patented IntegRex technology is a breakthrough innovation in the integrated conversion of PX to PET resin, which has numerous applications in the plastics industry.

"As the world's first facility utilizing Eastman's IntegRex technology and Therminol 66, we have very high expectations,'' said Dale Kline, Global Business Director, Specialty Fluids, Solutia Inc. "Therminol 66 has earned the position of being Eastman's fluid of choice for this important project. Customers place their trust in us because we provide a proven track record that far surpasses that of less-proven fluids and we continue to work with customers through Therminol's TLC(r) Total Lifecycle Care technical service and support program.''

Solutia is the world leader in synthetic heat transfer fluids, providing more than 40 years of excellence in technical support, customer service, performance and innovation.
