Funds Donated To United Way
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu is well known for his flowing mane, and although he's vowed he would never consider cutting his lovely locks, some folks do say goodbye to their hair, especially when it's for a good cause. This Friday, October 20, just after 10 a.m., LANXESS Corporation executive, Jack Hasnauer, Director of Technical and Services Procurement, will have his head shaved clean to culminate the company's fundraising efforts for the United Way of Allegheny County.
The special haircut, promised by Hasnauer if employees exceeded their $10,000 fundraising goal via special internal events, is expected to top the charts as one of the most expensive haircuts in the country. Celebrity stylists from New York to Beverly Hills charge anywhere from $120 to $800 to cut Madonna's, Angelina Jolie's and Meg Ryan's hair. Though Jack will not have his hair cut by the likes of Frederic Fekkai or Sally Hershberger, he will have the honors done by local Tonidale barbers, Joe Giangreco and Nazario Rizzo, whose business is in LANXESS's neighborhood and is frequented by many employees.
"LANXESS employees don't need an incentive to contribute to the United Way, but I suspect my pledge to go hairless has gotten everyone to donate just a little bit more," said Hasnauer, who serves as the Chairman of LANXESS Corporation's United Way Campaign Committee.
Promptly at 10:06 a.m., Jack will settle into the barber chair in the LANXESS corporate headquarters lobby. He will be surrounded and cheered on by hundreds of employees, including CEO Randy Dearth. One minute later, there will be sheer delight when United Way representative Jan Twaddle, Randy Dearth, and Jack's wife, Sylvia, all get a swipe with the shaver before turning it over to Joe and Nazario.
A "before" photo opportunity can be taken at 9:58 a.m. The "after" photo will take place approximately 20 minutes later.
LANXESS is a platinum sponsor for the United Way of Allegheny County. The total amount raised by LANXESS for the United Way via special events was $12,324.35. With the company match, Friday's total donation will be $18,486.53. The company's total fundraising goal for the 2006 United Way Campaign is $115,000.
