Kraton Polymers Announces New SIBS Polymer Grade For Hot Melt Adhesive Labels

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kraton Polymers LLC (Kraton) today announced the commercial availability of a new Kraton® SIBS (Styrene-Isoprene-Butadiene-Styrene) polymer, for use in hot melt adhesive labels. This new grade has been designed specifically for label applications and offers economic and performance advantages over other conventional technology grades.
This unique polymer exhibits outstanding adhesive properties with an excellent balance of tack, peel, shear adhesion, and resistance to flagging in even the most demanding label applications. Like other SIBS polymers, this new grade is compatible with both isoprene and butadiene based SBCs and therefore can also be used in combination with SB diblock. It is also useful for improved tack at lower temperature for food packaging and applications requiring a broader service temperature range.
High diblock content and a unique polymer structure make this new label grade SIBS easy to convert into labels, including improved die-cutting compared to SIS based formulations. It further offers excellent compatibility with a wide range for formulating ingredients including tackifying resins, plasticizers, fillers and additives.
