NEW YORK, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Dow Chemical Co Chief Executive Andrew Liveris said he expects a soft landing for the U.S. economy and expects the credit crisis to sort itself out.
"The U.S. consumer will continue to buoy up the economy ... When I say buoy up, (I mean) buoy it up so that it's a soft landing versus a recession," said Liveris.
A loosening of monetary policy is still available to the U.S. Federal Reserve, said Liveris, adding that this could help the United States avoid a recession.
Liveris said he would favor a rate cut by the Federal Reserve as it would send a positive signal to the market.
