Additional capacity expected online in 2008
BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Albemarle Corporation will expand production capacity for one of the world's most trusted and efficient flame retardants, SAYTEX® 8010 flame retardant, by almost 20 percent to meet increased demand for the proprietary fire safety additive. The expansion, which is underway at Albemarle's Magnolia, Arkansas facility, is expected to be complete in January 2008.
Albemarle previously completed a major capacity expansion for SAYTEX 8010 flame retardant in early 2007.
"Combined, these continued investments total more than eight million dollars (US $8 million) and demonstrate Albemarle's commitment to support our valued customers and their growing demand for this important product," said Troy Desoto, Global Business Manager for Albemarle's SAYTEX 8010 flame retardant business.
Patented SAYTEX 8010 flame retardant provides highly effective fire safety at low loading levels and exceptional performance in a broad range of styrenics, polyolefins, PVC/nitrile rubber and other polymers, in applications ranging from consumer electronics to wire & cable to insulation foams.
SAYTEX 8010 flame retardant is preferred to many other flame retardants because it is thermally stable and UV-stable, and resists blooming in finished resins. SAYTEX 8010 flame retardant also provides outstanding performance for applications when mechanical recycle of the plastic is important.
