MURRAY HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The largest carbon dioxide supply network in the country is getting even stronger: Linde is expanding its CO2 production and distribution capacity in the U.S. Northeast.
A new rail depot with 500 tons of beverage-quality CO2 storage has begun operating in Attleboro, Mass., supplying food, beverage and industrial customers in northern New England. The depot will be a key distribution point for Linde’s new, 600 ton-per-day CO2 plant, now under construction in Fulton, N.Y. That plant is expected to begin operating in early 2008. In North America, Linde has a CO2 production and distribution network consisting of more than 40 plants and depots.
“The Attleboro and Fulton combination will improve supply reliability for our customers in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states,” said Leo Watson, CO2 product manager, Linde North America.
“These locations enable Linde to move closer to our customers. We can deliver CO2 more efficiently to our existing rail depots in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and more easily supply customers located along the major Northeast interstate highways,” Watson said
Linde’s Attleboro depot was designed to ensure customers get the highest quality CO2 to meet their stringent process requirements. Linde has installed the latest in analyzer technology to ensure the CO2 can meet or exceed purity standards set by the International Society of Beverage Technologists.
Linde has years of experience in safely producing and delivering carbon dioxide by tapping into naturally occurring wells of the gas or by capturing and purifying feedgas streams from industrial processes, such as oil refineries, ethanol and ammonia plants.
CO2 that would otherwise be vented into the atmosphere is cleaned and liquefied by Linde for use in food and beverage production, medical procedures and a range of industrial processes, from water treatment to dry cleaning and semiconductor manufacturing.
In Fulton, Linde is building the plant – the region’s first in nearly two decades – at the Permolex International/NEB ethanol plant, located in a former brewery in the Riverview Business Park, some 25 miles north of Syracuse.
