Lyondell Houston refinery cuts rates after Fri fire

NEW YORK, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Lyondell Petrochemical Corp said Monday its 283,000 barrel per day refinery in Houston, Texas, would be running at reduced rates for several days after a fire on Friday in a crude distillation unit.
"We had a very brief fire -- about 5 minutes -- in a crude distillation unit," said David Harpole, a spokesman for the company.
Harpole said the unit was taken down and the refinery is running at an unspecified but reduced rates. He said that was expected to continue for several days but had no timetable for when full rates would resume.
