Responsible for maintaining engineering standards used throughout the company. Plans capital projects by studying internal development data, customer requirements (internal and external), market demand, current resource constraints, identifying and analyzing solutions, and then conferring and collaborating with other members of management to determine the optimal solution that minimizes risk. Ensures feasibility of projects by identifying and forecasting life cycle costs. Provide leadership to develop and maintain a formalized and documented mechanical integrity (MI) program that leads to improved safety, reduced chemical manufacturing costs, improve equipment reliability and improved process output and quality. Develop strategic and tactical plans and ensure that the direction of this group is line with the site strategic and tactical plans. Identify and implement MI best practices. Manage the MI staff and develop a budget for all MI activities. Manage the planning and coordination of the sites MI predictive and preventative maintenance activities. Ensure that all MI Group practices and procedures comply with OSHA, PSM/RMP and ISO 9000. Coordinate the scheduling of the MI inspections with Operations, Maintenance Planners, outside services and MI Group inspectors. Provide technical support to maintain, troubleshoot and repair fixed and rotating equipment assets. Contribute to the asset information in the plant asset repair history files and CMMS. Manages RCFA studies on equipment failures to increase the mean time between failure (MTBF) of assets and to reduce life cycle costs. Work closely with the Process Safety Engineer to manage risk at the site.

A degree in Engineering with at least 5 years combined maintenance and/or operations reliability experience with increasing responsible leadership roles. Must also have thorough knowledge in mechanical systems, strong management skills, decision/root cause analysis, and ability to strive for results through change. Must have a thorough understanding of diagnostic techniques including the latest and best practices across industry segments. Thorough understanding of maintenance excellence concepts and a solid understanding of the impact on the business of poor reliability. Must have proficient computer skills to use or learn business applications such as the MS Office applications, the TabWare CMMS, RCA software, financial applications, etc.

Additionally, candidates must posses solid experience in working with hydraulics pumps, valves, piping, mechanical seals, Heat Transfer Systems (Dow Vapor), Chilled Water Systems, Steam generation and distribution and turbines, pneumatics, implementation of training programs for new mechanics and ability to read blueprints (P&ID).
