Description:
The Sr. Process Engineer will complete process design for treating impurities in gas and liquid hydrocarbon streams. Completion of the basic engineering in the form of an engineering package for treaters. Typically, this includes the following: heat and material balances, PFD and P&ID development, equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, instrument specifications. Review and approve PFDs. P&IDs, equipment/instrument data sheets and basic engineering package discussion sections initiated by other engineers. Review and, when appropriate, incorporate client comments and requests to the engineering packages. Provide sales support by developing preliminary process design; including budgetary and fixed price quotes. Attend detailed engineering 3D Model reviews. Walk-down in-house modules/skids and provide input to the punch list. Service units which are in operation to solve technical difficulties encountered by the customer. Includes visits to operation site and gathering and evaluating pertinent data. Review equipment and instrument RFQ''s on modular and retrofit projects. Requirements:
Experience as a Process Engineer working in refinery, petrochemical, or E&C company; or Technical Service Engineering supporting commissioning and start-up or troubleshooting of refinery or chemical plant process units; or Sales Engineering supporting the design of technologies for refineries, petrochemical or chemical plants, including review of the work of other engineers. Degree in Chemical Engineering. Chemical engineering background in refinery or petrochemical environment with an understanding of PFD's, P&ID's, equipment and instruments sizing, and development of basic engineering packages. PEOPLE: Daily coordination of manpower to meet production requirements and efficiently control plant labor cost. Develop depth and experience within the company for all plant operations positions. Conduct routine performance feedback for all plant operations personnel. Continually strive to staff our plants with the best people. Coordination of plant schedules with Construction department and outside sales and work together to resolve any conflicts.
SAFETY: Enforce all company safety requirements and procedures. Lead by example. Conduct or coordinate policy/procedure training and reviews/inspections as required. Develop new policies/procedures as required. Train plant personnel as required. Set high standards for housekeeping in all plants and yards. QUALITY: Knowledge of plant QC/QA requirements for plant production and take a proactive approach to monitoring results and addressing issues. Must develop a positive working relationship with QC and QA personnel. Proactive approach and attitude in mix quality and consistency. Coordinate mix design requirements with QC personnel (mixes needed, timing, special objectives, etc.).
COST/EFFICIENCY/RELIABILITY: Proactively address plant maintenance and repair needs to prevent any plant unscheduled downtime. Maintain our assets to be the best in the business. Maintain a system to identify/track/manage repair requirements. Drive Predictive/Preventive Maintenance activities for the plants such as:
- Thermographic scans of the plant electrical equipment - Hot oil system fluid testing
- Critical equipment lube oil analysis
- Critical equipment vibration monitoring and analysis
- Baghouse filter condition testing
Identify major equipment repair needs and provide cost estimates, research alternatives for most effective solution. Maximize profitability of hot mix by pushing the envelope with cost saving technologies such as high rap mixes, RAS, warm mix, etc. Utilize information systems data and personal observations to proactively identify areas for improvement within the department as well as other departments and work diligently to drive improvements through to completion.

MISCELLANEOUS: Be well versed in, and ensure all operations comply with all regulatory requirements such as IEPA air permits, Storm Water permits, etc. Proactive coordination with material suppliers to meet plant production and quality requirements. Oversee additional company owned inactive properties.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical or other engineering discipline and have considerable experience in plant engineering/manufacturing with some management experience. Union experience is a plus, but not required. Candidate must have strong PC experience, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to utilize company cost accounting software and other custom software programs for maximum benefit. Candidate needs to exhibit a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well with other groups in addition to strong leadership skills.

REPORTS: Plant Manager reports to the VP of Operations. Subordinates include Individual Plant Foremen, Operators, and Scale Clerks.

Maintains liaison with outside contractors, suppliers, and representatives of other companies on matters of mutual interest involving rotating equipment and general maintenance as well as compliance with standards, specifications, and regulations. Perform RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) analysis on equipment failures.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering and chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or related industrial maintenance/reliability experience. CMRP certification ideal. Proven track record as a Maintenance Reliability Engineer in operating chemical plants.
