Description:

The Operations / Process Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and supporting the operation of assets at the Petrochemical/Resin facility. This includes tracking unit performance, setting operating targets and guidelines for the unit operators, troubleshooting problems, developing and executing improvement projects, and supporting the unit quality program.
DUTIES: Day-to-day interface with operations and maintenance to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize unit performance. Supporting the product lines through small project and technical service emphasis. Managing project activities including scoping and prioritization. Creating preliminary and detailed process designs. Economic evaluation, start-up support, post audit evaluations, and completion of proper documentation for projects. Preparation and support for unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups. Assisting in the monitoring of unit performance variables and supporting benchmarking efforts. Participate in PHA and MOC activities for plant projects. Support the training and development of operating technicians to increase their competency, knowledge, and skill level. Help review proposed process changes and procedure updates for operational/design soundness. |
Requirements:
|
A degree in Chemical Engineering and 5 plus years experience. Will look at more experienced candidates provided they are within the salary range and not over-qualified. Must possess a solid understanding of chemical engineering, process design principles, and plant operating practices. They need a hit the ground running person, so some polymer or monomer experience will be helpful. Strong problem solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions. Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental quality issues.
