Specialty Chemicals:
Specialty chemicals are differentiated products generally manufactured in low volumes and for specific end uses. Many are formulations or mixtures of different chemicals. Examples include electronic chemicals, pesticides, adhesives and biocides. Products are typically sold to a large number of customers in limited quantities. The technology required to manufacture specialty chemicals is often complex, and therefore specialty chemicals are considered to be value-added materials. Consumers of specialty chemicals make purchasing decisions based primarily on performance, but price can be a factor in their decision making process. As a result, specialty chemical manufacturers invest heavily in marketing efforts to demonstrate the ability of their products to meet the specific performance requirements of their customers.
