DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides technical support for plant operation. Provides process engineering support for plant on capital projects, from conception to start up.
Attend the morning meeting of the assigned area to maintain communication.
Analyzes and troubleshoots specific plant operating problems.
Optimizes unit operations as assigned. Supports plant shutdowns with strong technical input.
Provides process engineering support for various plant capital projects from conception through start-up. Function as Project Sponsor on specific capital projects, providing detailed scope of work, management of change, plan review and approval, functional checkout plan and start-up/commissioning procedures.
Performs engineering studies.
Performs and oversees plant experiments for new raw material qualifications and product development projects
Writes and reviews Standard Operating Procedures.
Assists in developing new and updating P&IDs, Site Standards (procedures), and Emergency Procedures.
Participates and documents Incident Reviews (IR). Participates in Department Incident Reviews (DIR). Prepares, participates, and/or leads Process Hazard Analysis/Level of Protection Analysis (PHA/LOPA). Share in the PHA recommendation assignments.
Provides information/calculations to support budgeting and cost control efforts
Serves as project leader for Continuous Improvement projects and track monthly benefits in Power Steering.
Participates in rotating On-call duties for the site, as plant experience is obtained and assessed to be adequate by supervision. Is available after hours by phone (or otherwise) for consultation and/or possible call-out for plant problems or emergencies
Ensures all activities are done in a manner that respects safety and the environment and/or meets quality objectives.
Performs duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate, promptly reports Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attends Safety Meetings to help prevent off site and job accidents.

REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Experience in petrochemical plant operations or technology.
