The Project Engineer's primary responsibility is supporting and managing multiple high visibility projects to improve production, safety, and quality throughout the region.
Assists sites with project identification, scoping, and implementation.
Subject matter expert on the CAPEX system and stage gate processes.
Mentors and trains engineers in CAPEX projects and systems.
Prepares preliminary costs estimates, project proposals, and capital expenditure requests. Develops and prepares written specifications (in accordance with corporate design standards and best practices) and bid packages.
Prepares and manages projects using the FEL / Stage Gate process for capital approval.
Reviews and approves engineering drawings.
Develops projects schedules; manages budget and timelines of approved projects.
Investigates options in equipment selection. Visits equipment vendors to access performance capability.
Communicates effectively by written reports and informal contacts to ensure all appropriate personnel are aware of project status. Coordinates the execution of capital projects with other operations functions to minimize downtime.
Serves on the start-up team for new manufacturing systems. Coordinates with the Technical and Operations departments on the drafting of start-up, shut-down, and safe operating procedures. Supports the training of plant personnel for new equipment.
Interacts with other departments to provide the highest level of teamwork and cooperation between groups. Serves as a technical resource for other engineers.
Demonstrated financial acumen, including calculation of IRR, DCF, and NPV.

Degree in Engineering.
Must be open to travel and might be able to work a few days/week from home.
Project/ process engineering experience with rotating equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Experience leading simultaneous projects.
Batch process manufacturing and semi-continuous process manufacturing experience, experience in general chemical processing.
Plant safety experience including knowledge of confined space entry, lockout/tag out, and hot work permit requirements.
Experience with PSM and/or Functional Safety Design.
Experience with design review process, Management of changes, regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, FDA), general chemical engineering design knowledge (heat transfer, material balance, fluid dynamics and mass transfer) and functional design and operation of control systems (HMI design, Reporting, Alarming).
Well versed in the use of software including Microsoft Office, CMMS software, CAD, Visio`, statistical software packages, SAP, or similar systems.
Ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
Ability to travel regionally and/or globally up to 20% of the time, including extended stays dependent on project load and location.

Strong fundamental understanding of the principals as they pertain to design in Lean (SME), Six Sigma (ASQ), and/or Lean Six Sigma (IASSC).
Ability to present root cause analyses and solutions.
Knowledge of the adhesive industry (manufacturing processes, equipment, substrates, and chemistry).
Experience utilizing SAP.
PMP certification and/or PE certification.
