RESPONSIBILITIES: The Plant Manager is responsible for serving the customer by creating and maintaining a clean, safe, highly productive plant, while making the most efficient and cost-conscious use of the equipment, materials, and employees to produce high quality products on first pass production runs. The Plant Manager will work with the management team to make the plant environment a great place to work, where employees are engaged and have the opportunity for career growth. The Plant Manager is responsible for developing and gaining support for both the operating and capital budgets. The Plant Manager will drive continuous improvement efforts and will achieve plant goals and objectives. The plant manager is expected to be the voice of the company and effectively communicate the company’s positions and decisions on a timely basis.
Focus areas include:
Environmental Health and Safety: enforce safe manufacturing practices and ensure compliance with all-application safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures.
Quality Management: Familiarity with ISO and “Best Practices” procedures. Extensive Statistical Process Control experience with proven results implementing and managing continuous improvement systems. Experience with Minitab. Familiarity with ASQ ISO 9000, or ISO 9000-2000.
Service Level Improvement: Set and maintain standards that ensure on-time delivery of quality products that meet customer needs.
Process and Productivity Improvement: Function as an in-plant expert concerning the production of the plant’s product line. Provide innovative solutions to customer issues by leading collaborative efforts to address all issues. Hear and leverage the ideas of others to prioritize, create, and deliver innovative solutions. Lead change and change management communications effectively. Identify, implement, and share manufacturing “best practices”.
Ensure PHA, PSM, RMP programs are current and completed
Cost Control: Control costs through close management of the operational and capital budgets and by identifying, prioritizing, and pursuing continuous improvement projects.
REQUIREMENTS: Plant/Operations Management experience in (PSM) chemicals manufacturing. Must be a "hands-on" operationally active, manufacturing leader. Demonstrated success in leading a facility and demonstrated ability to successfully manage capex projects on time and within budget. Should possess effective, strong communications and analytical skills, be persuasive, and have good general management instincts. Experience in metrics-based management, reviewing critical documents, and recordkeeping. Demonstrated success in assessing a plant, identifying gaps, defining/communicating/executing strategy, working collaboratively with cross-functional leaders, and leading the team to best-in-class performance.
