DUTIES:
Cultivate a culture of commitment to safety excellence while ensuring responsible and disciplined operations within the unit.
Support the Process Safety Management program, including the MOC process, PHA participation, and follow-up, maintenance of Operating Procedures, operator training and certification, and development of Process Safety Information for the entire building.
Work with chemical operators to incorporate ideas and best practices into process improvements.
Monitor and implement ideas to maximize overall asset utilization (OAU) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Become familiar with the operating equipment and be able to troubleshoot problems to improve equipment performance.
Coach other engineers though technical problem solving.
Work with maintenance coordinator to improve equipment reliability.
Work with chemical operators to learn the process and how it is performed and to solicit innovative ideas for improvement.
Identify capital projects and provide justification and start-up support.
As a senior technical resource, provide guidance and training for process engineers and operators. This may involve interaction outside of normal business hours as the department runs 24/7.
Collaborate with process technology group to ensure the successful transfer of new products and technologies.
Work with project engineers to identify, provide justification and start-up support for capital projects.
Domestic and international travel for training, meetings, customer visits, and supplier visits may be required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in chemical engineering with experience in chemical operations.
Demonstrated process engineering skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and process improvement.
Familiar with unit operations and able to learn and understand intricacies of specific chemical processes.
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma.
Experience with root cause analysis tools and risk assessments.
Ensure safe operations by observing all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) procedures.
Understand the general concepts of ISO 9001.

Considered a Plus:
Knowledge of thermoplastic polyurethane chemistry and production.
Programming experience with Delta V DCS.
Knowledge of SAP.
Experience with project engineering, construction processes, and project management.
Six Sigma certification.
Graduate degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university.
