JOB SUMMARY: Performs engineering functions on site in support of existing production requirements, new product development, and capital improvement projects.
DUTIES:
Plant Operations:
Assist operations team in troubleshooting production related issues
Identify opportunities to lower production costs and batch cycle times
Evaluate plant processing capabilities and limitations
Work with process chemists to resolve production issues
Work with maintenance team to resolve equipment issues
Work with HSE team to resolve safety/environmental issues
Provide Process Safety Management (PSM) support
Project Management:
Evaluate projects for technical and economic feasibility
Identify and design required equipment for project execution
Identify potential processing hazards and quality control issues
Work with maintenance/construction and operations to effect equipment availability
Identify potential process changes and implement for production optimization
Write operational procedures and conduct Operations team training
Coordinate/provide for PSM requirements
Work with operations team and customer during start-up to identify problems and achieve success
Customer Relations:
Communicate project related information
Work with customers and sales to resolve issues and/or complaints
Identify opportunities for improvement
Work with customer to ensure successful operation of new and ongoing projects
Management and Supervision:
Technical oversight of multiple reactor operating unit
Organize resources to facilitate execution of multiple concurrent projects
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
REQUIREMENTS:
BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, advanced degree a plus. Extensive experience in chemical processing environment including at least 5 years’ experience in the Chemical Tolling Industry.
Both batch and continuous processing, distillation, filtration, and solids handling.
Experience with Flares, Oxidizers, and Wastewater Treatment Plants are a plus.
Pilot Plant experience preferred.
Strong Chemistry knowledge; Alkoxylation, Maleation, Esterification, and Amine-acid Reactions
Extensive PSM experience required, including participation in Process Hazard Analysis,
Management of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews
RCM experience is a plus
Strong troubleshooting skills to promote efficiency improvements
Strong Leadership skills
Capability with Aspen or ChemCAD distillation simulation preferred
Strong verbal and written communication
